Registration for Fall Lessons

The Lunenburg Public School District in conjunction with the Lunenburg Music Aiders will be offering a new 10  week session of after-school music lessons from approximately September 26th to approximately December 9th, 2011.  The goal of the program is to introduce students to instrumental and vocal lessons at an earlier age to support the existing band and chorus programs at the middle and high schools.  The program is open to students in grades 3-12, from beginners to experienced students preparing for District or State tryouts. There is also a special program for second graders to learn the Ukulele.

We are offering lessons in Flute, Trumpet, Clarinet, Saxophone, Piano, Voice, Guitar, Mandolin, Harmonica, and Banjo.  Please return the sign-up sheet by September 19, 2011.

The Music Aiders organization has a limited number of scholarships to cover some of the cost of the lesson program.  Please fill out the following application to apply for a lesson scholarship.

Instrument Information

We are thrilled with the overwhelming response to the After School Lesson Program.

  1. All instrument lessons, (excluding piano), will require that you bring your own instrument. The instrument should be in working order.
  2. For parents of TCP students: Keep in mind, we are trying to accommodate a large number of lesson requests. Most children will not have their lesson immediately at the end of the school day. You will need to make arrangements for supervision of your child if there is a gap between the end of the school day and the lesson start time. You may want to look into the extended day program at the school or make arrangements.
  3. Piano instruction — due to the large number of children enrolled, someone with the Lunenburg Music Aiders will be calling you to discuss day and time. We are trying to accommodate the many private and group lesson requests. Also, if you requested a group lesson, please be advised- since there is only one piano in the classroom, we plan to bring an additional keyboard or two into the classroom. The instructor will be sure that students get time practicing on both the keyboard and on the piano.

Guitar Information

Each child needs a playable guitar that is the right size. Learning an instrument is difficult enough without adding the problems a poorly sized or unplayable instrument can cause. Child sized guitars are available at local music store such as Gordon-LaSalle and City Music in Leominster and Union Music in Worcester. When you buy an instrument please make sure you can return it if the size is not correct.

Agreement

Payment for the session is expected when the signup form is returned. Once class groupings and lesson times are planned, refunds will not be granted as agreements have been reached with the instructors.
